LOS ANGELES, CA: New Image Art is pleased to present, “Tonight, We Fight!” a group show curated by Luke Pelletier, featuring Ben Jensen, Dillon Froelich, Eric McHenry, John Malta, Luke Pelletier, Michael Hsiung, Mildred, Miles Jackson, Nathan Brown, Pacolli, Sean Morria, Teddy Kelly and Yarrow Slaps, opening Saturday, June 22, 7pm-10pm. A group art exhibition that explores the conflicts, compromises, shared opportunities, collaborations, and joint efforts, or lack there of, involved in working, alongside others, towards a common goal. There will be a limited edition zine at the opening that includes work from all of the artists.

Out Of Towners @Seeing Things Gallery April 20th

I’ll be participating in an upcoming group show, Out Of Towners, which features myself, Jason Arnold, and Andrew Mecum, at Seeing Things Gallery.  Show opens Saturday, April 20th from 7 pm to 11 pm.  We all at some point lived in San Jose and moved away, but this show nicely brings us all back.  Also, check out the Q&A I did with Seeing Things Gallery find out how the hell I ended up in SJ and why I left, and what am I doing now.

 



‘LongBoarders’ Print Release X Poster Child Prints

Poster Child Prints and I will be releasing my first limited print ‘Longboarders’ as a part of  the Neighborhood Artist Series.  The ‘Longboarders’ print, based off an original drawing, will be printed on 100% cotton archival paper with high quality ink in a limited edition of 50, all signed and numbered by me.  In addition you’ll receive a certificate of authenticity as well.  The release will start  today Thursday, March 28th 11 am PST.    Here’s some photographs of when I visited Poster Child Prints in Echo Park, courtesy of Poster Child Prints.

So Far, So Good, So What: Works by Michael Hsiung

Born in Chinatown, Los Angeles, Michael C. Hsiung is known for his black-and-white pen and ink drawings. His work features a range of “strangely rotund characters from fantastical creatures, such as centaurs and mermen to somewhat contemporary and/or old fashion bearded males”. Currently living with his wife Rachel in Los Angeles, he spends his days drawing, making prints, producing t-shirts and creating zines; he also plays Dungeons & Dragons when he can. His illustrations and artwork have featured in Dr. Martens, Dwindle / Enjoi Skateboards, Momentum Wheels, Matix, Ambiguous Clothing, Oxford American Magazine, Grove made, Scout Books, Steve Turner Gallery, and most recently in the form of a new skateboard for Amigos Skateboards in Seattle, WA. He has also exhibited in various galleries, including East of Eden at Barnsdall Park, 2008 Helsinki Biennial, Giant Robot, Slingluff Gallery, Hurley, and is scheduled for his first LA solo show January at THIS, Los Angeles gallery in Highland Park.
